Two tap takeovers tonight

One of the highlights of last year’s London Beer City was a beer brewed in collaboration by Redemption and One Mile End, a black IPA that positively shone on cask at the Jolly Butchers. The former are well-known to the capital’s beer-lovers; the latter are one of the more interesting new boys who have been quietly impressive of late under the guidance of head brewer Simon McCabe.

Those who haven’t had a chance to make it down to their base in Whitechapel - the White Hart pub, a classic street-corner boozer in an area which has lost a few in recent years - have the opportunity to rectify that tonight. BrewDog Camden have invited One Mile End down for a tap takeover, incorporating 13 different beers. Farmhouse Pilsner might be an acquired taste but Snakecharmer IPA is likely to please most hop-loving punters. The blood orange barrel-aged saison sounds worth at least a half, too.

That’s not the only takeover taking place this evening. A London micro of slightly older vintage, Hackney’s Pressure Drop, will be displaying their wares at The Rake in sunny Borough Market. The boys from Pressure Drop have promised some rarities plus better-known ales like Bosko IPA and Pale Fire.
