What’s on this week

The London beer scene never sleeps. There’s always something new on the horizon, be it a brewery, event, bar or industrially-brewed brand desperately trying to climb aboard the craft bandwagon. Recently, the city has welcomed its first all-Italian-beer pub, The Italian Job (look out for our upcoming review), a host of tanknova pubs and much more besides. So what’s happening this week?

Plenty, as you might imagine. Today, for example, the excellent Pressure Drop will be taking over the taps at Brewdog Camden. You can expect to find the likes of Bosko, their IPA, Wu Gang Chops The Tree (a beer that, given it’s described as a ‘foraged-herb hefeweiss’, seems designed to make aging Camra member’s heads go pop) and Wallbanger, a wit. We love wits.

Don’t forget, too, that The Stevedores continues to plough its own impressive furrow over in Bethnal Green. Camden Town’s beers will be available from today.

On Thursday, Bermondsey’s Anspach & Hobday will be heading north to The Three Johns in Angel, where they’re the focus of a tap takeover. A&H will also be holding a three-day festival at their place in SE1, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to celebrate their first year of trading.

The Bottle Shop’s London home is also in Bermondsey, but they’ll be up in Clerkenwell on Thursday as their coffee-shop tour shifts from Love and Scandal in Waterloo to The Department of Coffee and Social Affairs on Leather Lane. Expect £2 half-pints from the likes of The Kernel, Omnipollo and Prairie Ales.

Is that all? Oh no. There’s more to come from Brewdog’s London stable. Thursday sees the  start of a new bottle club at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush while, on Friday, Swedish brewers Brekeriet and Beerbliotek will be taking over the taps in Clapham Junction.
