Three Compasses

If you want to gauge how Dalston has changed, drop in to the Three Compasses. An old-fashioned boozer has been partially transformed, and the clientele reflects both its former life (dartboard) and its new role as hipster hangout (exotically-flavoured burgers, loud-ish music). There’s good beer: the cask ale might include something from London Fields or much-respected Essex boys Crouch Vale, while the bottled selection boasts two modern classics in Ilkley Best and Bristol Beer Factory’s Southville Hop.
