Cock Tavern, The

The Cock Tavern

Once upon a time (say, oohhh, the end of 2010) a bar like this, groaning under the weight of so many different, interesting cask ales, would have knocked most London beer-lovers on their backs in excitement. That The Cock’s offering no longer seems so otherworldly says a lot about London’s development, but this is still a place worth making a special trip to. The pub itself has an old-school feel: dark wood and jars of pickled onions and eggs. Cask ale is always good value and you can expect to find the likes of Magic Rock, Red Willow and Redemption. Keg offerings should include something from Camden Town and The Kernel. Nano-brewery Howling Hops used to be in the basement before moving to Hackney Wick in the summer of 2015, to be replaced by Maregade.
