The Market Porter

You get a real mix of people in the Market Porter: real-ale hounds, kagoul-sporting tourists and suited office workers, all of them enjoying the ambiance of a real market pub (with real market early-morning opening hours). Cask ales have long been the draw here, and although the selection is rarely hugely interesting - brown bitters of about 4.2 per cent strength abound - you'd be very unlucky to find nothing worth drinking. There's also three Meantime beers on keg plus Hopf Helle Weisse. In truth, this used to be a more atmospheric place before it was tarted-up a few years back.
