Rake, The

The Rake

Plenty of brewers have scribbled on the walls of this tiny boozer but one comment (from Jeff Rosenmeier, brewer at Henley's superb Lovibonds), which describes it as ‘The Marquee Club of beer’, thereby placing The Rake on the same level as the legendary rock club, stands out. Certainly The Rake was here before most of London’s now numerous craft beer-focused bars and while it’s been surpassed in terms of variety and, arguably, conviviality, it’s still a cracking place for a drink. What’s on the bar changes so regularly (Beer wholesalers Utobeer, who have a stall in the next door Borough Market, own the place) that it’s not worth listing the regular breweries but expect something interesting that you probably haven’t had before.
