Williams, The

The Williams

With its down-to-earth menu, breweriana-festooned walls and surfeit of handpumps, you might expect The Williams Ale and Cider House (as it bills itself) to be pretty traditional - and it is. This is the sort of cosy city boozer beloved of week-night drinkers and backpack-toting tourists, but it's not just that. Many of the breweries that have driven London's beer-drinking revival can be found on the bar here, from the fairly traditional (Truman's) to the more avant-garde (London Fields) via staples like Camden Town and Hackney. The beer theme extends to regular meet-the-brewer nights: check the website for details.
